Nancy Watanabe, Board President

“Part of the Sisterhood”

A Hearthstone supporter from the beginning, Watanabe officially joined the board in 2015 as secretary. She ensures Hearthstone’s smooth operations, taking minutes, coordinating emails, and supporting fundraising efforts. Her commitment is personal: she sponsors two girls and considers herself “part of the sisterhood.” She is driven to help her sponsees through their advanced education, and says that “if it takes four or five years, I’m with her ... I put my own kids through college, I put these kids through college.” Nancy is a retired high school and alternative programs teacher who helped start Carle’ Continuation High School for at-risk students.
