Sponsor A Girl
Yes, I want to help end the cycle of poverty!
Annual education costs
The majority of our donors give $750 - $1500 a year to support the education for 31 girls at the Reviel Martinel Orphanage in the Delmas neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. You don't want to miss out on the opportunity to help.
Of the 17 high schoolers we support, 3 graduated from high school in 2019, 4 more graduate in 2020, and by 2022, 10 girls were in higher education! As of 2024, Marceline, for example (see photo above), is in her third year studying medicine. This is a beating-the-odds story and a direct result of their now stable home environment — the foundation for any successful student.
Our Education Sponsors contribute to over 60% of our budget. Sponsors can choose to share the cost with others and/or pay what they choose.
Here is a breakdown of some of our costs:
$3,000: Annual cost of school each year for each girl
$250: Special needs tutor for 1-month
$200: Special education teacher for 1-month
OUR HIgher education FUND
As of 2024, 10 of the girls we support are in university or vocational schools.
As we celebrate over 10 years working with this community in Haiti, we are beating the odds!
In Haiti, only 10% of the ENTIRE population graduates from high school. And, because all schools are private, so few people even get to go to school and the odds that a person goes to university is slim. In orphanages, the situation is worse ... they get a little education on-site and when they are 18, they are often on the streets, unsupported.
We are #NotJustAnOrphanage!
We create opportunities for our girls to become new leaders in Haiti and to break the cycle of poverty. How?
- We send them to private schools in their neighborhood
- We hire tutors
- We support a home for them after they turn 18
- We are committed to supporting their entire education
- We are deeply involved in their education journey
In 2020, our first two of our girls got accepted to Quisqueya University in Port-au-Prince, after a rigorous application process, during a pandemic and civil unrest in Haiti. Kentyna is enrolled in the School of Law (she hopes to become a lawyer) and Marceline in the School of Medicine (she wants to become a pediatric surgeon). These two are very dedicated and determined.
This proved that higher education was a possibility for the girls in the orphanage.
As of 2024, we have 10 girls in either university or vocational schools. Many of the higher achieving girls in the orphanage have higher education plans.
Don't miss your chance to become a part of this amazing community of success!
