“This girl is going places.”

Kentyna finished high school last June after taking the NS4 government test. In August of 2020, she began classes at Quisqueya University in Port-au-Prince, after a rigorous application process, during a pandemic and civil unrest in Haiti. Her dream is to become a lawyer. She has also applied to be part of the French Service program in France.  She is attending interviews and meetings via Zoom and at the French embassy in Haiti.

Kentyna’s strong sense of justice is always prevalent in her attitude on current events and her personal relationships.  She easily states her case or opinion and cites her reasons clearly to help mediate conflicts at the orphanage.  In her junior year she participated on her high school College Bowl-type competition, where her area of focus was law and economics.

Her ability with words comes from her being an avid reader. She is the designated librarian at Reveil Matinal, ever since she took on the tasks of sorting and organizing the orphanage’s book collection and designing a check-out system for the girls. On the last visit to the bookstore in Port-au-Prince, she asked if they were hiring!

This girl is going places.
